Itinerary
Day 1.Listvyanka village
In the morning our guide picks you up from the airport or the train station in Irkutsk and you travel to Taltsy open-air museum of wooden carvings. The drive along the spectacular Angara River takes less than one hour. After the visit to the museum we are ready for the first date with Lake Baikal in Listvyanka.
Traditionally travelers start exploring Lake Baikal in the famous Baikal museum (we go there after lunch). We learn a lot about the origin of the lake and its underwater world. We also see charming Baikal ringed seals.
In the evening we take a lift up to the view point at Chersky Stone.
We spend the night in Maiak hotel.
Day 2. The Circum-Baikal Railway
On this day we travel along the Circum-Baikal Railway. We take a ferry from Listvyanka to Port Baikal, where we board the travel train.
The Circum-Baikal Railway is a unique monument of architecture and the arts of engineering. It is a part of the Tran-Siberian Railway and one of the most spectacular locations in the whole area. The train makes several short stops (15 minutes – 1 hour) along the way for you to walk in the tunnels and under arches and to contemplate the beauty of Baikal.
In the evening (around 9 pm) we get back to Irkutsk to the Sun Hotel.
Day 3. Olkhon Island
On this day we travel to Olkhon Island (280 km from Irkutsk). The island is detached from the 'main land' by the strait known as ‘Small Baikal’.On Olkhon Island we take an off-road car, as there are no asphalt roads here.
We spend the next few nights in Khuzhir in Baikal view hotel.
After a short pause we go to the Shaman Rock. This is a unique site with very special energy and magnetism.
Day 4. Travel to Cape Khoboy
Olkhon is the largest island on Lake Baikal. On this day we explore its northern part enjoying its vastness and breath-taking views. We take a walk along the Three Brothers and Khoboy capes and have an open-air picnic.
You contemplate the diversity of nature: sandy beaches, steppes and forests take over rocks and steep coastal lines.
After lunch we go to the Cape of Love and Uzury Ravine. Uzury is the only location in the north of Olkhon where you can go down to water. Here you can swim in the cold water.
We get back to our hotel at around 5-6 pm.
Day 5. Day trip to Ogoy Island
After breakfast we take a boat trip.
First we travel along the Small Sea and visit Ogoy Island (here we can see the famous Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment).
Then we go the main land where we visit a picturesque gulf with pine forests. Here we relax on the shore or walk to a spring.
In the evening we go back to Olkhon.
Day 6. Olkhon – Irkutsk.
After breakfast we travel back to Irkutsk (280 km). We bring you to the railway station or to the airport
